Who qualifies for an Indian Passport?

An Indian passport is available to everyone who is a citizen of the country. You must have been born in India or have at least one parent who is of Indian descent to be eligible for Indian citizenship; otherwise, you can apply for citizenship through registration or naturalisation.

On a pre-passport-issuance basis, police verification is essential. After receiving a “Recommendatory” Police Verification Report (PVR) from the Police Department, the passport is scheduled to be dispatched within three working days. This does not include the date on which the “Recommendatory” PVR was received.

Application for a Tatkaal Passport
